Thanksgiving Weekend

On Tuesday before Thanksgiving Steve started up the smoker to make us all a smoked pork butt for Wednesday night when Stevie and his family arrived.
It was smoking all day and let me tell you it was delicious.

What would Thanksgiving be without an apple pie? This was going in the oven in just a few minutes. And yes we did have a turkey.

Real flowers always make a nice table arrangement and I did these myself.

Samantha was so happy to be here and to have something good to eat.

Tanner thought he would make us some mud pies for dessert.

I don't want to eat mud pies.

Katelyn is becoming quite a young lady. See how her hair shines.

Just so all our south Florida friends know we do get the changing of the leaves.

Happy Birthday Molly

Today is Molly's birthday. She is now 1 year old. That is Molly in the pink collar with all her brothers and sisters.Notice how sweet Molly is when she is sleeping.
This is the first day that Molly came to live with Edward. Festus thinks he is so big.
Just wait Festus, I am going to be really big.

Molly is 11 weeks old in this picture.
She is just the cutest little dog.
This is Molly when she was 4 months old.
My how you have grown.

I am a big girl now that I am 1 year old.
Happy birthday to me.

It was a dark and dreary night.

I have been trying to get a moon shot for the past three months and had to go to Tampa to get this photo. We have way too many trees in our yard to get a good shot. This morning it was quite cold, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw all my white angel trumpets in bloom. Can you hear the trumpets? Hallelujah, Hallelujah. You must hum this to the Messiah by Handel to get the right effect.

Hmmmmmmmm Even the fairies were out this morning waving their fairy dust everywhere.

Sandhill Cranes and the visit to Tampa

This week we went to Tampa to see our grand daughter and son. Boy was the traffic something. Notice how the roads are so crowded.

Of course you can always expect some clown to just hog the highway.

Then there are the ones that don't care what the rest of the world is doing.

Oh are you speaking to me?

There are many lovely restaurants in the area but there is a big movement of the "green".

Harold do you think this red hat makes me look fat?

Here is our granddaughter just ignoring the camera. What a crazy grandma!

Ok so I will look just this one time.

The Opera House in High Springs

This is the original Opera House built in 1895. It is now the newly renovated Great Outdoors Restaurant and has maintained the oppulance of that period. This past Friday Steve and I attend the Murder Medium Rare show which was a dinner and murder mystery. We had a great time and many of our new friends attended the show and were cast members.

Remember when you were little and went to the fair

Oh the excitement of going to the fair when you were little. I remember going to the fair in Tallahassee every year. You know the fair really has not changed that much. There are still the barkers, the games of chance and plenty of stuffed animals to win.The Ferris wheel still looks the same. And there is always somebodies old tractor on display.
I just love the livestock. The pigs are one of my favorites.

That was then and this is now. What vivid colors and some creepy figures.

I still love the merry-go-round the best of all.
PS: All the pictures in this post were taken this year at the Columbia County Fair.

The week of Halloween

Edward called me from West Palm Beach last weekend lamenting that he could not find a Halloween costume. I said no problem just peel off a Chiquita banana sticker and paste it on your forehead and go as a banana. About one hour later he called to let me know he had found the perfect costume....a banana. I must be psychic. Now that is a nice ripe banana.

Festus wanted to show his dad how much of a role model he has been in his life. Festus says that when he grows up he wants to be a policeman. I think he has the perfect body for the uniform. He has his own gun and handcuffs. Once he had on the costume he did not move. I guess that is part of the stealth act.

Samantha came to visit on Thursday to show us her new shoes.

Perfect for an afternoon stroll.

I made cookies this week for all the ladies in our Friday lunch group. Each person either got a bat or a witch's hat. I also made a few Autumn leaves. The cookies are sugar cookies with black glitter sugar on them. They are quite tasty

On Saturday, my sister and I went to Micanopy to the Fall Festival. This is one of their grand houses.

Sunday was a trip to the Columbia County Fair.
